Ugandan-English Talent Divine Mukasa Signs First Pro Contract with Manchester City

Briefing

Description :

Rising football star Divine Mukasa has officially signed his first professional contract with Manchester City, marking a major milestone in his promising career. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, born on August 22, 2007, has quickly established himself as a standout talent since joining City's youth ranks in September 2023 after a successful stint at West Ham United.

Mukasa’s transition to Manchester City has been nothing short of impressive. He has already made a significant impact in youth football, including scoring two goals in Manchester City's Academy 6-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in the U18 Premier League on Saturday. Additionally, Mukasa was part of the squad in the UEFA Youth League, featuring in City's recent 4-2 defeat against Inter Milan.

His mother, Laima Mukasa, proudly shared the news of his first professional contract on social media, saying, “Congratulations Divine Mukasa on your first professional contract! Make us proud every day.”

Despite his young age, Mukasa has already added silverware to his achievements. He contributed to FA Youth Cup victories, first with West Ham in 2023 and later with Manchester City in 2024, showcasing his ability to perform at the highest level of youth football.

On the international stage, Mukasa has represented England at various youth levels, including the U-15, U-17, and U-18 teams. However, his international future remains open, as he is eligible to represent England, Uganda, and Lithuania due to his diverse family background. His mother is Lithuanian, while his father, Sam Mukasa, hails from Uganda.

As Mukasa embarks on this exciting new chapter with Manchester City, all eyes will be on the young midfielder as he continues to develop his talent and make strides toward a bright future in professional football.
